The Grounds was created by two West Auckland family men who know their way around a kitchen – Mike Shatura and Ben Bayly. Our seasonal menus have a distinctly local flavour, with most of our produce being sourced from Waitakere suppliers to create meals that feel like home—but taste like the work of two of New Zealand’s best chefs.

Sit down for a delicious breakfast, lunch or dinner, or grab a quick bite, an artisan ice cream or a Wagyu burger — and remember to take some time to enjoy our beautiful grounds.


Our name is a nod to our beautiful location on five acres bordering the beautiful Waitakeres—a setting which makes us one of Auckland’s foremost destination restaurants.

You’ll feel a hundred miles away from the city when you’re dining here. It’s cosy, more than a little luxurious and feels like an escape from the rat race. But the journey doesn’t stop at the grounds: our incredible food will take you away even further …


Our goal is to celebrate New Zealand’s vibrant produce with our menu. That’s why we go to great lengths to find small, local suppliers who share our passion for perfection.
